My name is Renee Schultz. I am currently a senior at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, New York. I will be graduating in May of 2015 with a bachelors degree in Mathematics and a certification in elementary education and special education. I have been interested in becoming a teacher since I was a young girl and now my dream is becoming a reality. I have experience working with children ranging from 12 months to 13 years of age both inside and outside of a classroom setting. I student taught in the fall of 2015 in a 2nd grade general ed. classroom in a public Newburgh school, and in a 6/7th grade special ed. classroom in a BOCES school where all the students in the class had Autism Spectrum Disorder. I had a great experience and cannot wait to begin teaching once I graduate.
I have a love for math and hope to change the way students see math, feel about math, and practice math when I become a teacher. I would love to get rid of the negative thoughts students have about math and instead help them learn to love math just as much as any other subject. |
